Nipsey Hussle’s The Marathon live album experience is almost here. After initially announcing the event in December on the mixtape’s 10-year anniversary, the late rapper’s estate has finally shared details of the upcoming event, which streams today on YouTube Live.

Celebrating the life of an incredible human, the Marathon Mixtape and the first week of #BlackHistoryYear,” animation studio Okidoki wrote on Instagram.

The studio, which helmed the “live visual album experience,” also shared a snippet of the upcoming event. The clip sees an animated car driving through the night while Nipsey’s “Late Nights and Early Mornings” plays in the background.

Back in December, Nipsey’s The Marathon Clothing brand explained the significance of The Marathon and revealed what fans can expect from the project’s commemorative experience.

“Today marks 10 years since the release of #TheMarathon. A project our team holds near and dear to our hearts for many reasons,” the company wrote on Instagram. “It represents the story of Nipsey’s resilience and unwavering faith in his mission and the authenticity and honesty in his message. It also was the first seed planted in the Marathon brand that gave the fruit to many other branches that Nipsey architected, as only he could do.”

“In commemoration of this anniversary we’re proud to announce our collaborative effort with Okidoki to bring to life an interactive live visual album experience coming in 2021,” the post continued. “The experience will give viewers [an] intimate look at the era that helped shape this masterpiece. The people, the places, the stories, and more.”

Nipsey’s The Marathon live experience isn’t the only content fans can look forward to; last year, J Stone revealed that a posthumous record from the Crenshaw native was also in the works.

“It’s so much music this n***a done did, bro. Like you wouldn’t even imagine, bro. There’s shit I haven’t even heard when I thought I heard everything,” Stone told Bootleg Kev. “It’s definitely going to be another Nip album.”
